Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered emergency nursing care in the ED/ER
• Rapidly assess and triage patients using evidence-based practices
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and interventions safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary team to implement effective care plans
• Monitor and document patient status, recognizing and escalating changes in condition
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans with compassion
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and maintain unit safety standards

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Louisiana (or compact RN with ability to practice in LA)
• BLS required; ACLS strongly preferred or required depending on unit policy
• Previous emergency department (ED/ER) experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking and the ability to perform well under pressure
• Current immunizations and any facility-mandated screenings or onboarding documentation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Relevant certifications (BLS required, ACLS preferred) as noted above

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills
• IV insertion and medication administration experience
• Familiarity with EHR documentation and electronic charting
• Ability to prioritize multiple critically ill patients
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Basic familiarity with emergency protocols and trauma care
