Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
- Assess, monitor, and document patient status; respond rapidly to clinical changes
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other team members to develop and implement care plans
- Administer medications, blood products, and critical interventions safely and according to protocol
- Educate and support patients and families with compassion during stressful situations
- Participate in orientation, unit-based training, and ongoing professional development to maintain PICU competencies
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in Ohio or eligibility for Ohio licensure
- PICU or pediatric critical care experience preferred
- BLS required; PALS and ACLS preferred or as required by the facility
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to support patients and families
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric critical care principles and bedside assessment
- Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
- Safe medication administration and documentation practices
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and charting
- Family-centered care and effective interdisciplinary communication
