Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up the operating room with instruments and supplies prior to procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique and uphold a safe surgical environment
• Anticipate surgeon needs and assist during procedures for smooth, efficient operations
• Perform instrument, sponge and needle counts accurately and document thoroughly
• Inspect and ensure surgical instruments and equipment are functioning and sterile
• Assist with patient positioning and safe transfer into and out of the OR
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain best practices and compliance

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technologist program (preferred)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Previous operating room or perioperative experience preferred
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment
• Must meet Washington state licensure/certification requirements as applicable

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and sterile field management
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, instrument sets, and OR workflows
• Accurate counting and documentation skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure situations
• Basic equipment troubleshooting and infection control practices
