Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Prepare the OR and instruments, maintain strict sterile technique throughout procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology, and the perioperative team for seamless cases
• Perform accurate patient assessments, handoffs, and documentation in the EHR
• Anticipate team needs during surgery and proactively manage supplies and equipment
• Advocate for patient safety and comfort from pre-op through immediate post-op
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based safety practices

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Louisiana (or compact/multi-state as applicable)
• Minimum perioperative experience preferred; new graduates with OR exposure encouraged to apply
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or PALS as applicable preferred
• CNOR certification highly valued or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and meet credentialing requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative infection control
• Proficient patient assessment and perioperative monitoring
• Experience with operating room instrumentation and sterile field management
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Comfortable using electronic health records and perioperative documentation
