Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit using evidence-based practices
• Perform ongoing patient assessment, monitor telemetry and vital signs, and respond to changes in condition
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and adjust care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and discharge instructions with compassion and clarity
• Document care and patient responses thoroughly and accurately in the electronic health record
• Support safe transitions of care by coordinating with case management and other support services

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Louisiana
• Experience working in a Step-Down Unit (SDU) or progressive care setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage acuity and multi-task in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and any required background or health screenings

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Advanced patient assessment and recognition of clinical deterioration
• Intravenous therapy, medication administration, and infusion pump management
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation and clinical workflows
• Prioritization, time management, and situational awareness in acute care
• Patient and family education with cultural sensitivity and professionalism
