Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients with compassion and clinical precision
• Monitor vital signs, airway status, pain control and recovery progress, escalating concerns promptly
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons and the OR team to ensure safe handoffs and continuity of care
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered, following pediatric dosing and safety protocols
• Educate families on post-operative expectations and discharge instructions in a clear, comforting way
• Document patient status, interventions and discharge information accurately and timely

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or compact RN licensure
• Experience in PACU and/or pediatric nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; PALS strongly preferred
• Comfort with pediatric airway management, pain control and post-anesthesia monitoring
• Strong communication skills for effective family-centered care
• Ability to participate in orientation and team-based onboarding

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of post-anesthesia assessment and pediatric recovery protocols
• Skill in recognizing and responding to post-op complications and changes in condition
• Familiarity with medication administration and pediatric dosing safety
• Ability to perform accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Team collaboration and effective handoff communication
• Family-centered care approach and patient education skills
