Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess patient status, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes with clinical judgment
• Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately according to orders
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Communicate effectively with families to explain care plans and provide emotional support
• Participate in unit orientation and training to maintain best practices and patient safety
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in California required
• Experience in pediatric critical care or PICU preferred
• Current BLS required; PALS and ACLS strongly preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable with IV medication administration, ventilator monitoring, and ACLS protocols
• Ability to provide compassionate care and clear communication with families and team members
• Must be able to complete required orientation prior to independent shifts

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric critical care assessment and monitoring skills
• Familiarity with ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care equipment
• Safe medication administration and accurate documentation practices
• Able to prioritize and act decisively in fast-paced PICU situations
• Effective teamwork, clear communication, and family-centered care approach
• Proficiency with electronic health records and unit-specific workflows
