Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to adult ICU patients, maintaining a 2:1 patient ratio when required
• Monitor and interpret complex hemodynamic data and manage ventilators and advanced ICU equipment
• Perform and assist with critical procedures such as central line and arterial line placement and intubation
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapy and specialty services to develop and execute care plans
• Educate patients and families about conditions, procedures and care plans with empathy and clarity
• Serve as a dependable team player on nights, supporting core staff with EVD, oncology and neuro cases as needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas (or compact privileges as applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of ICU nursing experience (NVICU/critical care experience preferred)
• Current ACLS certification (required)
• Comfortable with critical care procedures: central line/A-line care, intubation, EVD care
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Strong teamwork, accountability and caring bedside manner

Education

• Nursing diploma, ADN or BSN preferred; active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU patient assessment
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic medical records
• Skills in central line and arterial line management and troubleshooting
• Airway management and ventilator knowledge, including intubation support
• Experience caring for neuro, oncology and BMT patients
• Ability to manage complex patient equipment and maintain situational awareness on night shift
