Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, skilled care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients across the Progressive Care Unit
Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor cardiac telemetry, interpreting EKGs and recognizing changes in condition
Manage advanced invasive lines and devices including arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and nasogastric tubes
Operate and manage ventilator support and multiple IV pumps for patients requiring short-term ventilation or complex IV therapy
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans from admission through discharge
Act as a clinical leader on the unit: mentor and precept staff, delegate to LPNs and CNAs, and support charge nurse priorities
Provide education and emotional support to patients and families, including discharge planning and post-discharge instructions
Escalate concerns and implement established policies and procedures with sound clinical judgment and minimal supervision

Qualifications

Current Montana RN licensure (required)
Degree from a Nursing Program (required)
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Recent experience in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit with recent Critical Care or Progressive Care nursing experience required
EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
Demonstrated ability to precept staff and provide clinical leadership

Education

Degree from a Nursing Program (ADN or BSN) — accredited program required

Knowledge & Skills

Patient assessment and advanced nursing procedures
Cardiac telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
Ventilator management and noninvasive/invasive ventilatory support
Management of arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and multiple IVs
IV pump operation and medication administration
Care for pediatrics and a broad range of medical-surgical diagnoses
Strong collaboration, communication, and situational awareness
