Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients in the Operating Room
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure patient safety
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively and communicate changes promptly to the care team
• Participate in surgical counts, documentation, and post-op handoff to PACU staff
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in Louisiana)
• Operating Room experience preferred (OR-General experience a strong plus)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) encouraged when applicable
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with attention to detail in high-stakes environments
• Ability to follow sterile technique and perioperative protocols consistently

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Relevant perioperative training or on-the-job OR orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation, supplies, and OR workflows
• Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring, and documentation during surgical procedures
• Ability to anticipate team needs and respond proactively in the OR
• Comfortable working in fast-paced settings and adapting to schedule variations
