Roles & Responsibilities

Provide excellent, compassionate nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit
Continuously monitor patient status and intervene promptly to ensure safety
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to implement care plans
Perform thorough assessments and document changes in patient condition
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
Support unit initiatives that improve patient outcomes and workflow

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or RN licensure eligible
Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or encouraged
Clinical experience in Step-Down, telemetry, or critical care settings preferred
Strong assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced unit
Excellent communication and teamwork skills; dependable and patient-centered

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency in patient monitoring and telemetry interpretation
IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion pump familiarity
Skilled in clinical assessment and early recognition of deterioration
Comfortable working within electronic medical records and documentation standards
Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
