Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized nursing plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Monitor patient condition and escalate changes to the care team promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and ancillary staff to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning
• Document care accurately and timely in the medical record to support continuity

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN license if applicable
• Recent experience or comfort working in a Med/Surg nursing environment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS/PALS as required or preferred by unit
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to pass required background checks, drug screens, and health screenings
• Excellent communication skills and a team-first mindset

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available, but all accredited RN grads are encouraged to apply

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Patient assessment, wound care and post-operative care skills
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient/family education and interdisciplinary collaboration
