Location: Bakersfield, California

End Date: 09-28-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM start with variable end times, plus rotating call coverage including weekends and holidays

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $98 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assist surgeons as the first assistant during a wide variety of complex procedures including robotics, ortho, neuro, GYN, and vascular cases
Provide skilled support during total joints, robotic hysterectomies, brain tumor resections, and minimally invasive surgeries
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth case flow and optimal patient outcomes
Float between campuses as needed to support surgical services across the facility
Respond to call coverage with a 30-minute arrival window to maintain 24/7 surgical readiness

Qualifications

Active RN license with RNFA certification required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Proven experience in robotics, ortho, neuro, and GYN surgical specialties
Comfortable scrubbing and first assisting in a fast-paced OR environment
Cerner EMR experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of orthopedic, robotic, neurosurgical, and gynecologic procedures
Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and maintain sterile technique
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Flexibility to float between campuses and take call as scheduled
Familiarity with Cerner documentation system
