Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and closely monitor step-down patients, recognizing subtle changes in condition
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans with clinical precision
• Administer medications and manage infusions safely and accurately
• Utilize telemetry and advanced monitoring to detect cardiac or physiological changes
• Collaborate proactively with physicians, respiratory therapy, and interdisciplinary teams
• Respond to emergent situations, escalate appropriately, and participate in life-saving interventions
• Document patient care thoroughly and efficiently in the electronic health record
• Provide compassionate education and support to patients and families during transitions of care

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana (or active in a compact state where applicable)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred or willingness to obtain
• Experience in step-down, telemetry, or ICU settings preferred (clinical skill and confidence valued)
• Strong clinical judgment, ability to prioritize, and excellent communication skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shift blocks and participate in team-based scheduling

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV therapy, infusion management, and medication administration
• Clinical assessment skills for rapidly changing patient conditions
• Proficient documentation in electronic health record systems
• Interdisciplinary collaboration and clear communication
• Ability to teach patients and families in a supportive way
