Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to step-down unit (SDU) patients
Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor telemetry and vital signs
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create and follow individualized care plans
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
Document patient care, changes, and interventions clearly and timely
Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure or eligibility (Louisiana licensure expected)
Clinical experience or interest in step-down/telemetry or progressive care settings
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) encouraged or preferred
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient prioritization skills
Reliable, professional, and compassionate approach to patient care

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
Patient assessment and clinical judgment in acute or progressive care
IV medication administration and infusion pump familiarity
Clear, timely documentation and electronic health record usage
Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
