Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Neuro Stepdown (SDU) setting
• Monitor and interpret complex neuro/medical telemetry and communicate changes promptly
• Perform focused assessments and initiate appropriate interventions to stabilize patients
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers and multidisciplinary team members to optimize care plans
• Administer medications, manage IV therapies and document care accurately and timely
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans with compassion
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (Louisiana licensure preferred or compact RN if applicable)
• Experience or training in Neuro Stepdown, SDU or progressive care nursing
• Current BLS required, ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills, comfort with telemetry and hemodynamic monitoring
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical judgment in neurologic and progressive care patient management
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV medication administration and infusion pump competency
• Ability to respond to rapid changes and escalate appropriately
• Patient and family education, discharge planning and care coordination
• Electronic medical record documentation best practices
