Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
Prepare and maintain a sterile environment and surgical instrumentation
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative team members
Perform pre-op assessments and post-op handoffs with attention to detail
Advocate for patients and communicate clearly with families and the care team
Document care accurately in the patient record and uphold facility policies
Troubleshoot equipment issues and help maintain inventory for smooth cases

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN license
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) encouraged where applicable
Recent OR experience preferred; prior perioperative training or orientation helpful
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced surgical setting
Ability to pass facility onboarding and required background/health checks

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid understanding of sterile technique and perioperative principles
Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and equipment setup
Patient assessment and critical thinking in acute care situations
Teamwork, adaptability, and time management in the OR environment
Comfortable with electronic health record (EHR) documentation
