Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, client-centered occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an OT
• Assist with assessments, implement treatment plans, and document measurable progress
• Support activities of daily living training, adaptive techniques, and functional mobility
• Collaborate closely with nurses, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and caregivers to promote independence and safe transitions home
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and follow facility policies and procedures
• Contribute to a positive patient experience through compassionate, professional care

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Active California COTA licensure or eligibility to obtain state authorization
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or obtainable upon hire
• Experience in inpatient rehab, acute care, or outpatient therapy preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team
• Current immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Completion of a COTA certification program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic activity planning and ADL training
• Proficient with documentation in electronic medical records and maintaining compliance
• Knowledge of safety and fall-prevention strategies for diverse patient populations
• Ability to perform mobility assistance, transfers, and use of adaptive equipment
• Good clinical reasoning, time management, and patient education techniques
• Comfortable collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to drive outcomes
