Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' nutritional needs and create individualized care plans
• Provide medical nutrition therapy and counseling to support recovery
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care
• Monitor patient progress, adjust plans as needed, and document outcomes
• Educate patients and families on practical, sustainable nutrition strategies
• Ensure compliance with facility policies and maintain accurate clinical records

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required
• Active state dietitian licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in California
• Experience in clinical nutrition, ideally in inpatient or substance use treatment settings
• Strong patient education and counseling skills with compassionate communication
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
• Completion of an accredited dietetic internship and RD credential

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical nutrition assessment and medical nutrition therapy
• Menu planning and therapeutic diets in institutional settings
• Patient-centered counseling and behavior change techniques
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and care coordination
• Accurate clinical documentation and EMR navigation
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
