Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain a comprehensive risk management program aligned with Alaska statutes
• Lead organization-wide patient safety efforts and guide process improvements
• Investigate, evaluate, and report adverse incidents per regulatory requirements
• Facilitate Patient Safety Rounds and engage clinical teams in safety practices
• Coordinate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and care teams after incidents
• Conduct and lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEA)
• Provide risk management and patient safety education to staff, leadership, and physicians
• Support accreditation activities including chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support
• Collaborate closely with Medical Directors, CMO, and corporate counsel on quality issues
• Serve as a mentor and resource for cross-functional teams to drive safer care

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required)
• Direct-hire candidates must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before the start date; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license
• CPHRM certification required within two years
• Clinical competency demonstration required within 3 months and every 3 years thereafter
• Minimum of 3 years experience in risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
• Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and driving process change
• Strong investigative skills and experience with regulatory incident reporting

Education

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep understanding of AK statutes and federal/state regulatory requirements
• Expertise in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Experience with accreditation standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF)
• Skilled in incident investigation, adverse event disclosure, and grievance analysis
• Proficient in conducting chart audits, clinical reviews, and supporting data analysis
• Excellent professional communication and cross-functional team facilitation
• Ability to educate and influence clinical staff, leaders, and physicians
