Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations (ABD, OB/GYN and other requested studies) for radiologist interpretation
• Deliver patient-centered care across the lifespan, adapting technique for newborns through geriatric patients
• Maintain departmental quality assurance programs and ensure accurate patient records and paperwork
• Care for and maintain transducers and the Trophon station to ensure safe, effective imaging
• Assist with ultrasound invasive procedures and consult with referring physicians as needed
• Participate in policy/procedure preparation, accreditation efforts, and ongoing department in-services
• Rotate shifts, transfer patients safely, and assume departmental responsibility in the absence of a supervisor

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (required)
• Able to perform diagnostic exams across assigned modality; able and willing to work in two ultrasound fields (general and vascular, or cardiac)
• Willingness to travel occasionally to provide services to various SEARHC sites
• Professional judgment in radiation protection principles and patient safety

Education

• ARDMS in one modality (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Ultrasound (ABD, OB/GYN)
• Transducer care and Trophon maintenance
• Quality assurance and policy/procedure adherence
• Patient transfer and age-appropriate patient care
• Radiation protection principles and safe imaging practices
• Experience assisting with ultrasound invasive procedures
• Familiarity with RVT, RDCS, and additional RDMS modalities is a plus
