Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room, ensuring patient safety from pre-op through PACU handoff
• Prepare the OR environment, instrumentation, and sterile field for surgical procedures
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs to coordinate efficient case flow
• Monitor patients intraoperatively and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Advocate for patient comfort and dignity while educating patients and families as appropriate
• Document accurately and timely to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Louisiana) required
• Experience in Operating Room (OR) nursing, demonstrated competence in perioperative care
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain upon hire
• Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong attention to sterile technique, patient safety, and detail

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; equivalent nursing diploma accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile processing
• Patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and OR workflows
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-stakes settings
• Time management and prioritization during surgical case turnover
