Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor pediatric med/surg patients, responding quickly to changes
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Provide compassionate, family-centered care and patient education
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and follow care plans
- Document patient status and interventions clearly in the medical record
- Advocate for patients and families to ensure high-quality, age-appropriate care
- Participate in orientation and training activities to maintain clinical excellence
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; PALS certification preferred or obtained
- Experience or demonstrated competence in med/surg nursing and pediatric care
- Comfortable with medication administration, IV therapy, and pediatric assessments
- Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and health requirements
- Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric med/surg clinical knowledge and age-appropriate assessment skills
- Medication administration and IV/infusion experience
- Proficient documentation and charting in electronic health records
- Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and time management
- Effective patient and family education skills and bedside manner
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines in a fast-paced environment
