Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop appropriate nursing interventions
• Administer medications safely and accurately while documenting care in the chart
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate discharge planning and transitions of care
• Monitor patient response to treatment and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care
• Maintain unit safety, infection control, and accurate clinical documentation

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN license as applicable
• Clinical experience or comfort working on a Medical-Surgical unit
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications a plus
• Current ACLS or PALS if required by the unit or preferred
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, patient-first mindset

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of medical-surgical nursing principles and interventions
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Ability to perform patient assessments, recognize changes, and prioritize care
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Critical thinking, time management, and teamwork in fast-paced settings
• Compassionate patient education and family communication skills
