Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population
• Perform rapid assessment and triage of patients arriving to the ED
• Administer medications, start IVs, and carry out lifesaving interventions as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to create efficient patient flows
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and next steps
• Advocate for patient safety and adherence to evidence-based clinical protocols
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and emergency preparedness activities

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Hawaii licensure preferred or eligibility to obtain
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous Emergency Department (ED/ER) nursing experience preferred (new grads with strong ED clinical skills will be considered)
• Comfort and competence working 12.5-hour clinical shifts in a fast-paced environment
• Up-to-date immunizations, background check, and ability to pass facility onboarding

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and critical assessment skills for emergency settings
• Familiarity with trauma protocols, cardiac emergencies, and rapid response
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clear clinical documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork under pressure
• Critical thinking, time management, and prioritization in fast-paced care
• Patient advocacy and culturally sensitive care, especially in a diverse community
