Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assess pediatric patients pre-operatively to ensure safety and readiness
Prepare children and families for procedures with clear, compassionate education
Perform and document vital signs, screenings, and pre-op assessments
Collaborate with the surgical team and anesthesia to communicate patient status
Provide comforting presence and age-appropriate explanations to reduce anxiety
Participate in orientation and unit workflows to maintain high-quality care

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (able to practice in Missouri)
Experience or comfort working with pediatric patients in a pre-op or perioperative setting
Current BLS required; pediatric-specific certifications (PALS) preferred
Strong communication skills to work effectively with children, families, and care teams
Ability to complete orientation and follow facility policies and protocols

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of pre-operative assessment and pediatric care principles
Skill in age-appropriate patient education and calming techniques
Familiarity with documentation best practices and pre-op checklists
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary surgical team
Excellent attention to detail and patient safety focus
