Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed PT to help patients regain mobility and independence
• Deliver individualized care plans and progress documentation that make a measurable difference
• Assist with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and adaptive equipment education
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
• Monitor patient responses and report changes to the supervising PT promptly
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and adhere to facility policies and regulatory standards
• Contribute to a positive, patient-centered environment that supports recovery and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Current, active Physical Therapist Assistant license in California (or compact/state-appropriate license)
• Graduation from an accredited PTA program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification
• Strong clinical assessment and therapeutic intervention skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and professional documentation habits
• Prior experience in inpatient or acute rehab settings is a plus

Education

• Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise, manual techniques, and gait training
• Knowledgeable about patient safety, transfers, and fall prevention
• Comfortable with rehabilitative equipment and assistive devices
• Proficient in clinical documentation and EMR charting
• Ability to prioritize caseloads and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team
• Empathy and patient education skills to coach patients and families
