Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic interventions under the direction of a Physical Therapist to help patients regain mobility and independence
• Assist with implementation of individualized treatment plans and therapeutic activities
• Monitor patient progress, document outcomes, and communicate changes to the care team
• Coach patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
• Perform gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices with attention to safety
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and physicians to coordinate comprehensive care
• Participate in discharge planning and community resource referrals to support ongoing recovery
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to facility policies and infection control standards

Qualifications

• Current PTA license in Wisconsin or eligibility to obtain licensure
• Associate degree or completion of an accredited PTA program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification
• Previous experience in rehabilitation or similar settings preferred
• Comfortable working all days of the week as needed for coverage
• Strong communication, documentation, and patient-centered care skills
• Willingness to work as a travel clinician for a short-term assignment

Education

• Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant or related field

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and progressive therapeutic techniques
• Gait training, transfers, and safe patient handling
• Experience with assistive devices and adaptive equipment
• Skilled in patient assessment, goal setting, and progress tracking
• Proficiency with documentation and electronic health records
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
• Understanding of infection control and safety protocols
