Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare procedure rooms and equipment to ensure safe, efficient care
• Assess and monitor patients before, during and after cardiovascular and EP procedures
• Provide timely patient preparation and handoffs to maintain continuity of care
• Independently circulate during procedures and assist physicians as needed
• Document assessments, procedures and handoffs in real time using electronic systems
• Perform and record procedure logging in MacLab/CardioLab and maintain accurate records
• Administer procedural sedation per unit and hospital policies
• Maintain patient safety and lead time-out/full stop processes prior to procedures
• Participate in preceptorship and mentor new staff to build team expertise
• Engage in ongoing professional development and complete required certifications

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
• Cath Lab and/or Cardiovascular/EP Lab experience strongly preferred
• ICU, CVICU or IMC experience preferred; new grads and Med/Surg-only candidates are not being considered
• Experience with circulating procedures, procedural sedation and X-ray fluoroscopy
• Familiarity with MacLab/CardioLab documentation and intra-cardiac ultrasound is a plus
• Ability to work variable hours, respond to on-call pager and adapt to rotating schedules
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma; Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
• If hired with an Associate Degree or Diploma, must obtain BSN within 36 months

Knowledge & Skills

• Pre- and post-procedural patient assessment and monitoring
• Real-time electronic documentation and procedure logging
• Independent circulation during diagnostic and interventional procedures
• X-ray fluoroscopy and intra-cardiac ultrasound operation
• Experience with 3D mapping systems in EP procedures
• Familiarity with structural heart procedures like TAVR and LAAO
• Comfort assisting with peripheral interventions and neuro-interventional procedures
• Patient safety practices, time-out processes and sterile technique
