Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise approximately 45 FTEs across Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Environmental Services, setting clear expectations and developing training plans
- Direct maintenance activities on utility systems to ensure continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, and oxygen required for facility operation and patient care
- Implement and oversee preventative maintenance programs and scheduled equipment inspections to meet manufacturer recommendations and operational standards
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and hospital policies, including NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS, and local building and fire codes
- Manage and ensure outside contractor compliance with regulatory and hospital standards
- Act as liaison with other departments to assess needs and develop actionable plans that support safe, reliable operations
- Acknowledge and follow up on customer and employee concerns in a timely, professional manner
- Carry out Director-level responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC, and general building maintenance
- Experience with autoclaving and bio-waste management
- Familiarity with regulatory standards including NFPA, OSHA, EPA, and CMS
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to detect, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and personnel management skills
- Willingness to relocate to a rural area (required)
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field

- Facilities management and plant operations
- Preventative maintenance and equipment inspection
- HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and boiler operation
- Regulatory compliance (NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS)
- Environmental services (EVS) and bio-waste handling
- Grounds maintenance and general building maintenance
- Leadership, personnel management, and training development
- Construction phasing and basic engineering principles
- Contractor oversight and vendor compliance
- Customer service orientation and interdepartmental liaison skills
