Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
- Assess, monitor, and document patient status, intervening promptly as conditions change
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans
- Administer medications and manage advanced therapies and equipment per protocol
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with families, keeping them informed and involved
- Participate actively in orientation and unit training to ensure smooth transitions for new staff
Qualifications
- Current, active Registered Nurse license (Ohio) — required
- Experience or demonstrated competence in Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ACLS preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented critical care environment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric critical care principles and practices
- Patient assessment and monitoring, including interpretation of vital signs and labs
- Familiarity with ventilator management and advanced life support equipment
- Effective family-centered communication and education
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary care team
