Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, ensuring safe recovery and comfort
Continuously assess patient status and intervene promptly to maintain airway, breathing, and circulation
Administer medications and manage IVs according to orders and protocols
Collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgical, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
Document patient assessments, interventions, and progress accurately and timely
Participate in orientation and precepting to help onboard new team members

Qualifications

Current, active RN license (Missouri preferred or eligible to obtain)
BLS required; PALS strongly preferred or required for pediatric PACU
Experience or clinical exposure in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit and/or pediatrics preferred
Comfort with pediatric assessment, pain management, and recovery protocols
Ability to complete orientation and work the scheduled 4-hour shifts

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN)
BSN preferred but ADN with relevant experience is welcome

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia monitoring and recovery principles
Pediatric assessment and developmentally appropriate care
Medication administration and IV therapy
Effective communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
Accurate clinical documentation and use of electronic health records
Safe patient handoff and transfer procedures
