Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Day shifts; 4-hour shifts (exact start/end times to be provided by the facility), orientation required

Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative assessments and nursing care for pediatric patients
Prepare children for surgery through age-appropriate education and calming techniques
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure safe, timely care
Perform pre-op procedures such as IV starts, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring
Maintain accurate documentation and handoffs to support continuity of care
Advocate for patient safety, infection prevention, and a positive family experience

Qualifications

Active RN license in Missouri or compact RN licensure accepted
Current BLS required; PALS preferred
Experience in pediatric nursing or pre-operative care is a plus
Strong communication skills and the ability to comfort children and families
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment and maintain accurate documentation

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication techniques
Pre-operative protocols and surgical preparation
IV starts, medication administration, and monitoring
Electronic medical record documentation and charting accuracy
Teamwork, critical thinking, and situational awareness in perioperative settings
