Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, expert nursing care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
- Monitor critically ill pediatric patients and respond quickly to changes
- Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update care plans
- Educate families about care plans, procedures, and discharge needs
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly and timely
- Participate in orientation and training to maintain unit standards and safety
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in California (required)
- Experience or training in PICU or pediatric critical care preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
- Comfort managing ventilators, vasoactive drips, and complex pediatric equipment
- Ability to work per diem shifts and adapt to variable schedules
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical assessment and pediatric critical care monitoring
- Medication administration and IV/infusion management
- Familiarity with PICU protocols and emergency response
- Family-centered communication and education
- Electronic health record documentation best practices
- Ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
