Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and vital signs to detect changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to orders
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, and discharge planning
• Participate in orientation, unit training, and quality improvement initiatives
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns when needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky or eligibility for compact licensure
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience or interest in Progressive Care/Telemetry nursing
• Comfort working 8-hour shift schedules and completing required orientation
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and communication skills
• Commitment to teamwork, patient safety, and evidence-based practice

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Comprehensive patient assessment and early recognition of deterioration
• IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion management
• Accurate electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
• Critical thinking and rapid decision-making in acute care settings
• Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
