Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: 4-hour shifts (specific start/end times and days to be confirmed), RN - PACU (Peds). Orientation required.
Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU
- Monitor vital signs and recovery status, intervene promptly when changes occur
- Administer medications and manage pain control per physician orders and protocols
- Communicate clearly with families about recovery progress and post-operative care instructions
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure smooth transitions
- Document care accurately and timely in the patient record to support continuity and compliance
- Participate in orientation and ongoing education to maintain high standards of pediatric PACU care
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Massachusetts (or compact RN with MA authorization as applicable)
- Recent PACU experience preferred, pediatric PACU experience a strong plus
- BLS required; PALS and/or ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a patient- and family-centered approach
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of post-anesthesia recovery principles and pediatric physiology
- Skillful assessment of airway, breathing, circulation, level of consciousness, and pain
- Competence with pediatric medication dosing and IV management
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced PACU environment and escalate concerns appropriately
- Compassionate family education and clear clinical documentation skills
