Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by ensuring instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready and sterile
• Maintain aseptic technique and a pristine sterile field throughout procedures
• Assist surgeons and the OR team by passing instruments and anticipating needs
• Perform accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts and document appropriately
• Set up and break down surgical trays and sterilization processes after cases
• Support patient safety by verifying patient identity and procedure details
• Communicate clearly with nurses, surgeons, and perioperative staff to keep cases efficient

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training
• Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred; on-the-job experience considered
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen
• Comfortable working per-diem schedules and adaptable to variable case times
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork mindset, and excellent communication skills

Education

• Certificate or diploma from an accredited Surgical Technologist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of sterile technique and OR infection control practices
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and sterile tray setup
• Ability to accurately perform counts and document perioperative information
• Good situational awareness and ability to anticipate surgical team needs
• Basic familiarity with electronic health records and perioperative documentation
• Professional demeanor and ability to work calmly under pressure
