Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed radiation treatments to patients safely and accurately, following physician treatment plans.
• Operate and troubleshoot linear accelerators (including tomotherapy) and CT simulator equipment with precision.
• Deliver brachytherapy treatments, including high dose rate (HDR) procedures, following established protocols.
• Monitor patients continuously during treatment, providing sedation/analgesia care as needed and ensuring comfort.
• Collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and the multidisciplinary care team to optimize care.
• Maintain meticulous treatment records and documentation to support clinical quality and regulatory compliance.
• Perform routine quality assurance and radiation safety checks to protect patients and staff.
• Provide compassionate patient care and education, explaining procedures and answering patient questions with empathy.

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license (required).
• Current CPR certification at Healthcare Professional level (required).
• Experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred.
• Familiarity operating linear accelerators, CT simulation, and brachytherapy equipment (including HDR and tomotherapy preferred).
• Comfort working with ambulatory and inpatient populations, including patients requiring intensive monitoring.
• Ability to meet physical demands: standing/walking for extended periods, lifting up to ~25 pounds, reaching and repetitive motions.
• Commitment to radiation safety practices and high standards of patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Education

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license
• CPR (Healthcare Professional) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Radiation Therapy delivery and radiation safety
• Linear accelerator operation and CT simulation
• Brachytherapy (low and high dose rate) and tomotherapy experience
• Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and total body irradiation familiarity
• Patient monitoring, sedation/analgesia care, and strong patient communication
• Clinical documentation, QA procedures, and teamwork in multidisciplinary settings
