Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist during cardiovascular (CVOR) procedures, maintaining focus and precision
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field, instruments, and supplies for each case
• Anticipate surgeon needs and deliver instruments and supplies efficiently
• Perform accurate instrument and sponge counts to ensure patient safety
• Document perioperative activities and communicate clearly with the surgical team
• Collaborate with RNs, anesthesiologists, and other team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Uphold patient confidentiality, sound judgment, and professional conduct in every interaction

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (required for hires post-2009)
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) experience required
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Certification by an approved body (e.g., NBSTSA - CST, or NCCT - TS-C)
• Ability to scrub across neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• On-call availability and reliable teamwork skills
• Proficient computer and keyboarding skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with sterile technique and instrument handling
• Strong computer and keyboarding abilities for documentation
• Sound judgment, tact and diplomacy in high-pressure situations
• Ability to function independently within established protocols
• Competence performing unit tasks assigned by RNs
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and safety across all age groups
