Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess pediatric patients in the pre-operative setting and document findings clearly
- Prepare young patients and their families for procedures with calm, age-appropriate explanations
- Perform pre-op checks and ensure equipment and supplies are ready
- Collaborate with the surgical team and anesthesia to coordinate safe handoffs
- Administer pre-op medications and monitor patients according to protocol
- Maintain accurate records in the patient chart and communicate changes to the care team
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) — core requirement for the role
- Experience or demonstrated comfort with pre-operative care
- Experience or focus in Pediatrics or working with pediatric patients
- Willingness to complete required orientation for the facility
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication
- Pre-operative patient preparation and safety procedures
- Basic life support and familiarity with pediatric emergency responses
- Accurate documentation and charting skills
- Strong teamwork and clear communication with surgical and perioperative staff
- Attention to detail with infection control and sterile technique
