Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Monitor patient status and communicate changes promptly to the interdisciplinary team
• Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately following facility protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other specialists to deliver coordinated care
• Document patient care and clinical observations clearly in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and unit-specific training to maintain high standards of care
• Support families with clear communication and empathetic bedside updates

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California or eligible for California licensure
• Experience or clinical background in pediatric critical care or PICU preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; PALS strongly preferred
• Comfort with pediatric assessments, ventilator management basics, and critical care interventions
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and orientation components
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and PICU workflows
• Skill in patient assessment, monitoring, and rapid recognition of clinical changes
• Familiarity with common PICU equipment and basic ventilator concepts
• Medication administration accuracy and IV/infusion management
• Comfortable documenting care in an electronic medical record
• Teamwork, adaptability, and family-centered communication
