Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity ICU nursing care for adult neuro/cardiac/medical-surgical patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Manage ventilated patients, titrate vasoactive drips and continuous IV sedation/neuromuscular blockade safely
• Perform invasive line management including arterial, central lines and PICCs and assist with chest tube care
• Interpret 12-lead EKGs, identify dysrhythmias and lead rapid emergency response when needed
• Care for neurosurgical patients (ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy care) with meticulous assessment and documentation
• Administer blood products and follow transfusion protocols while monitoring for complications
• Accurately chart patient care in Epic and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
• Support unit education and teamwork by sharing knowledge and participating in charge/mentoring when asked

Qualifications

• Current RN license (pending licenses not accepted) — must be eligible to practice in NC
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (Neuro/Medical/Surgical/Trauma ICUs preferred)
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must pass EKG exam — no exceptions
• Experience with Epic charting required
• Travel experience preferred and willingness to float within scope to like units
• Comfort working night shift and every-other-weekend schedule

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced cardiac monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Ventilator management and care of mechanically ventilated patients
• Invasive line management: arterial lines, central lines, PICC care
• Neurological ICU skills: ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy care
• Titration of vasoactive drips and emergency medication administration
• Blood product administration and transfusion monitoring
• BiPAP/CPAP management and chest tube assistance
• Familiarity with teaching hospital workflows and trauma-level care
