Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments and document results accurately for timely stroke care
• Provide high-quality neuro stepdown care, monitoring neuro status and responding to changes
• Use EPIC for charting, medication administration records, and interdisciplinary communication
• Administer ACLS-level interventions as needed and collaborate with the code team
• Care for med/surg patients when the unit acuity requires flexibility and teamwork
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team to support safe transitions
• Maintain clean, accurate documentation including skills checklist and certification records

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Nursys verification required) and ability to upload license to profile
• NIHSS certification documented in CV packet is required to be considered
• Minimum 2 years of experience in neuro specialty (neuro stepdown) — strong med/surg with stepdown exposure may be considered
• Current ACLS certification preferred/required depending on unit needs
• EPIC experience required — please note EPIC on your profile
• Complete candidate packet: resume/work history (no gaps >60 days), skills checklist, references, certification card, and a badge-appropriate photo

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in NIHSS scoring and stroke-focused neurologic assessment
• Comfort managing high-acuity neuro stepdown patients and telemetry monitoring
• Proficiency with EPIC charting workflows and documentation standards
• Strong med/surg nursing skills to step in when unit needs fluctuate
• Ability to follow ACLS protocols and participate in emergency responses
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills
