Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centered nursing care on a Med/Surg unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Respond effectively to clinical emergencies and escalate concerns appropriately
• Maintain clear, timely charting in the electronic health record
• Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Louisiana (or compact RN as applicable)
• Recent Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and other certifications a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and IV therapy skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management abilities

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical judgment and patient assessment on Med/Surg populations
• Medication administration and safe documentation practices
• Familiarity with electronic health records and charting workflows
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients safely
• Strong communication with patients, families, and the care team
• Infection control practices and patient safety protocols
