Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the progressive care unit
• Monitor patient status, interpret data and intervene promptly to ensure safe outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures and discharge plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Support a culture of respect, communication and continuous learning

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky or eligibility to obtain one
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS/NIH Stroke certs preferred when applicable
• Experience or strong interest in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing
• Demonstrated clinical assessment, critical thinking and effective communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to patient needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient monitoring and telemetry care common to PCU settings
• Strong medication administration and IV management skills
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation practices
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced acute care environment
• Excellent patient education and family communication abilities
