Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to med-surg patients, prioritizing safety and comfort
• Assess patient condition, implement care plans, and monitor responses to interventions
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and according to protocol
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (physicians, therapists, support staff) to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and aftercare
• Document care thoroughly and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility for state licensure (compact license accepted if applicable)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS/PNC may be preferred depending on unit
• Clinical experience on a Medical-Surgical unit preferred — new grads with strong clinical skills are welcome to apply
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to rotating schedules

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of med-surg nursing principles and standards of care
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize multiple patients and manage time effectively
• Strong patient education and family-centered care approach
