Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on the medical/surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments and develop timely nursing interventions
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Act as an advocate for patients to ensure dignity, comfort, and optimal outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) credential (or eligible to obtain RN licensure in New Hampshire)
• Clinical experience or training in medical/surgical nursing (Med/Surg)
• BLS certification required; ACLS or other certifications encouraged depending on unit needs
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts with rotating day/night coverage
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with patients, families, and staff

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of med/surg nursing practices and standards of care
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV management
• Familiarity with inpatient electronic health record systems
• Patient assessment, vital sign trending, and early recognition of deterioration
• Effective time management for high-acuity workloads
• Compassionate patient education and family communication skills
• Ability to function well within an interdisciplinary care team
