Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments and supplies in a timely, sterile manner
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure surgical field integrity throughout procedures
• Assist with surgical counts and documentation to support patient safety and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia team to promote efficient, safe patient care
• Participate in orientation and training activities to support continuous improvement and team readiness

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or completion of an accredited surgical technologist program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Prior experience in an operating room or surgical setting preferred
• Ability to follow sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative protocols
• Strong communication skills and ability to work calmly under pressure
• Pass required background checks and any facility-specific credentialing

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist training program preferred
• CST certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of operative instrumentation, sterile technique, and surgical environments
• Familiarity with OR workflows, case turnover procedures, and surgical counts
• Comfortable with teamwork and clear communication in fast-paced clinical settings
• Attention to detail for precise instrument handling and documentation
• Basic familiarity with electronic health record documentation is a plus
