Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Neuro Stepdown unit
• Monitor and assess patients with neurological and stepdown-level needs, responding to changes promptly
• Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately, following facility protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures and discharge instructions in a clear, compassionate way
• Document clinical assessments, interventions and patient responses thoroughly and timely
• Participate in unit-based improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in Louisiana)
• Experience or familiarity with Neuro Stepdown/Stepdown Unit (SDU) care preferred
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and meet unit scheduling needs
• Required facility certifications as applicable (for example, BLS/ACLS per facility policy)
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking and effective communication skills

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN) or equivalent per facility requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Assessment and monitoring of neuro and stepdown patients, including telemetry/monitoring
• Proficiency with IV medications, infusion pumps and common nursing equipment
• Patient safety practices, escalation of care and rapid response processes
• Strong teamwork, time management and prioritization in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Effective patient/family education and discharge planning
