Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (days/times vary), Med/Surg unit

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate direct patient care on the Med/Surg unit
Assess and monitor patient status and communicate changes to the care team
Administer medications and treatments accurately and on time
Document care thoroughly and maintain accurate patient records
Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute care plans
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
Advocate for patient safety and ensure compliance with hospital policies
Participate in unit-based initiatives to improve quality and patient experience

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
Experience or training in Medical-Surgical nursing (Med/Surg)
Comfortable working 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced hospital setting
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork mindset

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Medical-surgical assessment and clinical skills
Medication administration and IV care
Proficient charting and electronic health record (EHR) navigation
Patient and family education techniques
Time management, prioritization, and teamwork under pressure
Infection control and patient safety practices
